Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Reprieve

Today’s Sunday Snippet is dirty. There, you’ve been warned. Or promised, however you choose to look at it.  🙂
Make you sure you check out the other offerings from the Weekend Writing Warriors, too, some of which will also be dirty. I know this, because I read their books. Now, on to the snippet.
This is a tiny morsel from CROSSING THE LINE, a married couple ménage story (among other things). In case you haven’t been following along, or read the book (and if that’s the case, why ever not?), Derrick and Hanna are married, Jeremy is Derrick’s lifelong best friend, and he’s joining in for one very hot weekend.

CrossingTheLine_Cover_821x1272Hanna’s hands landed on his hips. Electricity rocketed through Jeremy’s body at the first touch of her lips on his shaft. He wanted to look. To watch his cock disappear into her mouth. But it was too much, too hot.

“Now do Derrick.” The command rasped out. And thank god she obeyed, because he needed the reprieve.

Lifelong best friends Derrick and Jeremy met Hanna at a bar ten years ago. Both wanted her—one married her. Now the other man has been invited to join in for one hot weekend.

Everything would’ve been fine if they’d had their fun that weekend, then gone back to normal. But they didn’t. And when past demons resurface, things will never be the same—for any of them.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Come Between Us

Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.

This week’s eight sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE, and follows directly after last week’s snippet. So, to refresh, Derrick and Hanna are having dinner in a small, intimate restaurant with Derrick’s best friend, Jeremy, who is joining the married couple for a very hot weekend. This scene is from Jeremy’s point of view.

CrossingTheLine_Cover_821x1272Might as well share his thoughts, they’d be sharing a lot more than words later.

“I was thinking about our pact from way back—that we’d never let a woman come between us. We broke that deal today, D, literally.”

“Yeah, I guess we did.” Derrick leaned forward, one arm on the table and one beneath. A couple seconds later, Hanna’s breath hitched. “And we’re gonna break it again. Many, many times.”

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Damn Coin Toss

Thanks for stopping by to read the Sunday Snippet. Today’s eight sentence excerpt is from my November release, CROSSING THE LINE, and comes to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.

In this snippet, we’re with Jeremy and his friends Derrick and Hanna. They’re in an intimate restaurant at the exclusive, adults-only resort where they’re celebrating Hanna’s birthday — in a very sexy way. Derrick took his wife shopping earlier in the day, and Hanna is showing Jeremy the gifts Derrick chose for her.

COVER_forweb_1“And when we got down to the beach, Derrick gave me this ring,” a soft sigh slipped from her lips, “I told him not to spend more money on me—this weekend is expensive enough—but it’s so…perfect.”

    “Derrick has good taste.”

Jeremy’s buddy nodded. In thanks, sure, but more likely in acknowledgement. He’d know Jeremy’s comment had nothing to do with his choice of gifts and everything to do with the woman he’d chosen. That they’d both chosen. Damn coin toss.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Body and Soul

Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Where did this week go, anyway? I can’t believe it’s the middle of December, and the end of 2013, already!

This week’s eight-sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE. Last week, you got a glimpse of Derrick’s fun-loving side. This week, you get to see another part of his nature.

COVER_forweb_1A wicked smile pulled his lips into a sexy curve. “I need to fuck you.”

“I need that too, let’s go.”

The slow shake of his head told her his intentions before he spoke another word. “Can’t wait. Need to be inside my wife — right now.”

The ownership in his words, in the tone of his voice and his hands on her body, gave her goose bumps. He’d shared her with Jeremy for her pleasure, but there was no mistaking who she truly belonged to, body and soul.

Here are a few of my favorite review quotes:

“…lures the reader down a path that is both erotic and disastrous…”

“…quite an emotional ride especially when Derrick’s demons came out to play. I seriously had no clue what direction this book was heading so kudos to Karla for keeping me on the edge of my seat guessing!”

“…well written, the story line was intriguing and the steam was off the charts. I’m not a fan of the ménage story lines but the synopsis got me, I needed to know what was going to happen. I’m glad I took the chance to read this it was a good read.”

“This was a perfectly satisfying read that had me heartbroken in places, swooning in places, and incredibly turned on in places.”

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll come back next week. 🙂

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – The Proposition

Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.

CrossingTheLine_Cover_821x1272In previous snippets, we had a glimpse of Derrick and Hanna right before the wedding. If you want to know exactly what happened, you can read the full first chapter and find out. Today, we’re jumping ahead in time and joining Derrick and Hanna in their kitchen, where Derrick has a not-so-little proposition for his wife…

“The videos you watch, the stuff we pretend—we can do that if you want. Really do it.”

A couple of seconds ticked by before it clicked. “What…why? No, no, I don’t need that. Just you, you’re all I need.”

Ah, there it was, the importance of a single word. She didn’t need to be with two men at once, but she hadn’t said she didn’t want to be.

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – I Do, or…

Sunday Snippet time! As always, pop over to the Weekend Writing Warriors site for the complete list of participants.

Today’s eight sentences are from the first page of CROSSING THE LINE, which releases November 18th. Less than two weeks left to wait!

Last week, Derrick was battling with his tie as he got ready for his wedding day, and his best buddy posed a cryptic question. Today, we’re following Derrick as he goes in search of the bride-to-be.

Thanks to the ultra-plush carpeting that ran through the house, nobody heard him climbing the stairs. Or walking down the hall toward the last door on the left, Hanna’s old bedroom. He’d have been happy to make things legal at some chapel in Niagara Falls, where she’d made him the happiest man alive by accepting his proposal. But deny Hanna the pretty, garden wedding she’d dreamed about and deserved? No way. So here they were. And here he was, three steps from his bride-to-be’s half-open door.

“It’s not too late to call it off.”

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – Ties

Welcome! It’s Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.

For this week’s bite-sized excerpt, I’m serving up the first eight sentences of my upcoming release, CROSSING THE LINE, available November 18th!

    COVER_forweb_1

“Fucking ties. What idiot invented these things?” Derrick snapped the strip of gray silk from its stranglehold around his neck. “To hell with it, not doing it,” he said, launching the thing at a garbage can.

Jeremy’s dark eyebrows rose, but Derrick’s best friend left the tie where it’d landed. “I have a solution. We pretend I won the coin toss that night. I get the girl, you get to avoid the marital noose.”

After a decade together, things are perfect between Derrick and Hanna. Derrick can’t give his wife the thing her biological clock wants, but he can give her what her very healthy libido craves—a threesome. Of the two guys, one girl variety. And he knows just who to invite as their third.

Ten years ago, Hanna danced with two guys at a bar. The one she went home with became her husband, a man who still brings love, lust and adventure to her life, daily. When Derrick suggests inviting the other man, his longtime best friend, Jeremy, along for a sexy weekend getaway, Hanna can’t help worrying. Nor can she resist what will undoubtedly be the hottest birthday party ever.

Everything would’ve been fine if they’d had their fun that weekend, then gone back to normal.

But they didn’t. And things will never be the same—for any of them.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you’ll visit again next week for another taste of CROSSING THE LINE. Have a great day!
